I'm obviously too cynical. I don't know what's gotten into me....

I watched it with a friend who thought it was amazing. I thought it was really good in parts, but I have absolutely no faith in the writers. I hope this is not a spoiler-free zone, at least if the episode has already aired

First, I think the Baltar story line is awful. As soon as he walked into that room, I knew that he would start having sex with them. As soon as that boy returned, I knew that Gaius would heal him. I know that we need him to keep alive the religion and mysticism aspect of the show (and a great excuse for Tricia Helfer to wear that dress - speaking of which, do they explain why the other six doesn't wear actual prison garb, not that I am complining..), but really, if he was thrown out an airlock and was never to return, it wouldn't have impacted the rest of the episode at all.

The final four are already annoying me. If anybody actually believed that scene where Tigh shot Adama in the head, you must be on the NBC Universal pay roll. If they did actually kill somebody off, it would have shown a lot more guts than the writers have right now. I would have been able to live with that, except every single time two or more of them are together, they spend half their conversations giving strange looks to each other. The part where I think the president said "We're back to square one, everyone can be a cylon. they can be living with us right now" is an example. Every five seconds, Tyrel would shoot Tigh a look or the other way around. In the CIC, when the President's aide said "Something must have changed..." she gives a quizzical look to Tigh, etc. Redeeming part was when Starbuck said that Anders was too nice because if she found out he was a Cylon, she would put a bullet in his brain.

Lee as a civilian. Haven't we done this already? Over/under on when he returns to the fleet? I put it at the 7th episode.

Kara as a Cylon. This was the best part of the episode, largely because it deals with one of the central stories of the show, returning to earth. It is also the least predictable. Kara won't shoot the president and I don't think she is a Cylon. Since it would be so obvious if she is a Cylon, I think the writers are going to pull a twist and have it be somebody else. What really happened to her? It should be interesting. If it turns out she is really a Cylon, the writers have lost all imagination.

Special effects were amazing. Great battle scenes. Unfortunately, they frakked up so much last season, they really need to write themselves out of a hole. I like the idea of looking into the politics of the Cylons, especially the class divide of the humans vs. the toasters. Of course it will be overbearing and cliché after two episodes, but interesting nonetheless. Before the episode, I said the chances of them finding earth before the show ends are about 10%, because they would probably want to leave some room for a movie or another spinoff down the line. Now, I would put it at about 50%.

Sorry for the huge ramble. Feel free to disagree with me. I know I look at this show waaaaay to critically, and it is exactly the thing I hate my industry friends doing when I see a movie, so I'll spare most of the ranting for my blog next time. Episode final grade? 3 stars or B-.

Ooh! Scary! Scary! Don't we look mean? You can't see me! But I can see you!
Loved this episode including the opening act. I might say this is the most impressive CG battle they've done to date. Even better than blowing up the other Battlestar. I loved all of the detail and the missiles turning in space to lock on. Loved the various ships getting pummeled. I enjoyed the development of Baltar from the reluctant religious figure to... "Are we alone in here? I mean they're not coming back? The door is locked right? Do you feel God's presence? Because I feel it too...". I loved the fight in the bathroom and the aftermath. Starbuck is a mystery now so that's interesting again... I really think they started Season 4 with a bang. Felt more like first Season again.

It's funny because I was telling my wife I think she could be a clone. But she basically questions that of herself in the episode so that's probably not it either.

From another point of view Mokers, they have a lot to undo from the last season and a half of writing before it can get better I think. This was definitely a better episode than many of last season.

Yeah, I liked this episode better than the entire last season.

you have to be a bit amazed at the production crew that goes into such detail for a prop that has less than a second of on-screen time. though some serious geeks have pointed out an error -- can you find it/

I got it but took a while to load.

Perhaps the mistake something geeky related to the battle group or other ID on the photos?

One could say the problem is that it's upside down. But then that doesn't really matter in space.

I'm guessing the complaint from the geeks is how in the hell would Col. S. Tigh be able to "authorize" the photos taken if he wasn't even there and she had no way to communicate with him?

think the authorization was to access and print out, so that's not it, or at least what i'd heard. rino was on the right track.

Of course the Lost freaks will think it wasn't a mistake but put there on purpose and there is some hidden meaning we have to find...

Oh I got it!

It's the Battlestar Group #. 75 is for Battlestar Galactica. 62 is for Pegasus. But wasn't she Cag for 62? Just looks like someone was a little late in updating their paperwork. ;-)

What a journey.
The inset photos are squared-off?

What a journey.

See, that's the thing about Battlestar Galactica... They're always cutting corners.

I actually shouldn't blame the people who watch lost. I blame the writers for inserting random things in episodes just so that can refer back to some obscure detail earlier on to try and shock their viewers. What's not a surprise is that the viewers are usually smarter anyway.

DAMN I was too tired to stay up -- yes! Too tired. A sad day... I recall sci-fi has it on rewind.

Thumbs neutral, but showing more promise. Spent waaaaaay too much time fellating Lee on his way out. So much more interested in what was happening with the Cylons. Why hasn't Gaius died a horrible death yet?

What a journey.
Is Baltar getting anorexic?
Personally, I hope Roz dies. I'm tired of her character.
How will she find her way back to the fleet? If they keep jumping to lose the cylons, how does a human make her way back? Did I miss some technology?
Are the cylons imploding? Will they civil war each other to death? Is there a death? He who rules the goo-baths wins?
What is the reason for strip poker? Don't those fly-persons bathe together in the showers?

What will finding Earth mean? Being able to hopefully prepare for the Cylons and attack with enough force to end it all? They better hope a Donald Rumsfeld wasn't castrated before they get here. Or, the cylons will just integrate with Europe first and win! ;)

What a journey.
