DPBD!

For anyone interested...

Apparently the US put in a pretty decent performance against Ireland - they didn't show the game on free-to-air tv though...

What a journey.
I would like to take up rugby... as a fan of course. I watched a couple of games/matches this summer on TV and I think it's about the most interesting team sport I've seen. Well, hard to beat basketball from where I stand. But I really enjoyed it.

I love the games played between pacific island nations where they do the haka (Maori tribal war dance).

The All Blacks do a haka before every game.

I was at this game (up in the nosebleed section) but I unfortunately can't find a better video of the haka...

(Australia won 25-20 - a rare victory...)

I DVR'd USA-Ireland (which NBC showed on Sunday afternoon as counter-programming to the NFL opening weekend on Fox and CBS), but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. I'm very interested to see the level at which the commentary is pitched, given most Americans' lack of familiarity with the game.

Don't worry, most of the umpires are fairly unfamiliar with the game too.

Good to hear.

It's a good day to be Irish...

Australia were comprehensively outplayed.

Let's see:

Fly-half running the ball inside his own 22 at a wall of Irish defenders? Check.

Fly-half doing ridiculous flick-passes to be intercepted by the opposing team? Check.

Scrum yet again disintegrating under pressure? Check.

Hooker unable to throw in a straight line-out ball? Check.

Entire forward pack playing like a bunch of old women? Check.

Well-played, Australia!

Well, I wouldn't pay her then.

But yes, I wouldn't pay her - had a rather bushy beard...

Ireland captain on their loss - "That Sucks"

An a more cheerful note:

Happy cheese eating surrender monkeys...

Scotland's last minute loss to England is avenged...

The Giants are in the NFC championship game. The Super Bowl is being played 20 miles from my home. The pieces are falling into place--for serious heartbreak.

'Merican Football.
Did you hear that ROB LOWE broke the news that Peyton Manning is retiring? On Twitter....
Strange world.

We'll see if it's true - and I kinda hope it is - but strange story.

Mr Burns, well played. (Us drought-prone Aussies seem to freak whenever there's a hint of moisture on the paddock).

Was at this match last night. Cracker of a game.

Looks a hell of a lot more interesting than the dour England-France draw at Euro 2012. Having suffered through Roy Hodgson's management at Liverpool for half a season, I knew exactly what to expect from England (10 men behind the ball; hoof and hope), and I got exactly what I expected.
