What a journey.
So, I need a connecting flight thru Atlanta.... GOT IT! :)
actually no. so far our plans were "FIND CHEAP flights to somewhere hopefully warmer than Indy"

My brother lives down there. I can't recall last time I saw him. likely 12 years ago at dad's funeral. He had a stroke few months back, and I felt bad as I was already out of state on another trip at the time.
So, it'll be nice to reconnect with him.

Wife wants to head to Orlando, she thinks Universal sounds neat. I think I'll stick around wherever we end up; beach/hotel, whatevs. I'll drop more deets as they firm up.
Oh, I do DESIRE to see how fast a Chevy Bolt EV can go on Florida flatland. :)

Hideously Unnatural
The Bolt is limited to 93mph. It's got such amazing pickup across the whole speedometer, it's kind of scary. I've not driven any Teslas, but I can easily see myself getting into trouble in this vehicle.

Agreed, in general, with the EVs I have driven

My Subaru was in for service yesterday, so I was back to the Leaf. I still love that car. Not as cool as the newer EV's, but I just plain enjoy it.

Is Spirit Airlines the worst, or one of the worst? Opinions differ.

~$100 r/t ticket to LA from OAK. But wait, I'm not going empty-handed. I have to pay to carry on a bag each way? Sucks but... okay, extra $90. Wait, you say I don't? But your ticketing said I could carry on zero before. Okay, refund me. You can't? Only a $60 credit towards a future flight (so I can spend more money on you)?

$10 to check in at the airport? Okay, I'll check in online, print out a pass, and for belt-and-safety I'll download you app and have that, too. The app gives "Error" and that's it when I enter my info? The web site says "An error occurred and you could not check in now" and that's it?

The contact info you have for me is in TX, because I booked through Travelocity? I can't change that?

And they also want to charge you to choose a seat, get on the plane earlier than others, etc.

Fuuuuuuuuck them.

Norman Greenbaum should update his song.

If you're not already using these to dream of travel, on the cheap...
let me know if you guys have other new/neat travel sites/apps...

https://www.kiwi.com - the website and app have slight differences. But nice feature is draw circles on origination and destinations. Also, you can choose exact dates, range of dates, dates plus range of stay, or ANYTIME.

Google Flights - they have TWO (old/existing and new) user interfaces. I seem to prefer the more compact/dashboard of original, personally. [well, TODAY it looks different!!!]
Use google flights to add/save/track WITH ALERTS... this saved me $1,400 last year.

Hit List (app) - Not sure yet how best to work this into my travel dream/action plans. But it's worth getting and trying to figure out for YOUrself.

Skiplagged - MY NUMBER ONE FLIGHT search site/app. TRICK is to search (which can include TO ANYWHERE) and sit and WAIT for 2 minutes on results. Often times they re-search for your immediate search and find lower prices, and update the page/app. Also, play with the price tracking month chart. Click on it and vary the dates and length of stay.

SkyScanner - becoming too mainstream for me. Also, that and coupled with their momondo search results, can be VERY SKETCHY. Some flight results are literally too good to be true. Amoma, and others that make up their low price results have amazingly bad reviews.

Adioso.com - I like the interface. Not used it enough to rate the results.

Technically, I think the Spork server is in a Linode datacenter in Atlanta.
Do you have plans?
So, I have a brother in sun city that has been retired there for gosh I can't recall a decade or more. I haven't seen him in 12 years. We're at Embassy Suites for 4 days, then to Orlando for 3 or 4.
Actually fly in 24th. I'm not even sure what my brother's availability is. (So, just shot him an email) He had a stroke last year. I'm the youngest of 5 and he's nearly 70, plays golf. Actually watched a video last night of where he worked for "Chrysler" (now FCA) in Belvidere, making Jeep Compasses.

Anyway, it'd be cool to say hi if you're not already booked up.

Det finnes ikke dårlig vær, bare dårlige klær!
I was in Tampa briefly last week... twice. Went from the airport straight to the cruise ship and then from the cruise ship straight back to the airport a week later.

My sister is getting married in Tampa two weeks from today. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it there. Anybody want to attend in my place?

Never been on a cruise. Watched some cruise adverts on youtube this week. I kind of fear the concept of cruises. Like cable Tv. never had cable (pay/dish/etc) tv.

Could not pass up $299 RT Paris flight tickets this week. I feel kids slipping away, need to do more traveling with them. (3 days IN I'm sure I'll wonder what I was THINKING!!!)

From Tampa/70s (Fahrenheit) to Indy/-10 F.
Stuck all day at Tampa airport; Frontier had mechanical "De-icer" failure, and they have like, no back-up plans at all, anywhere.
So, refunded, $1,000 travel vouchers; and free/paid AmericanAir flights back home. Thought we'd might not make it. American Pam T. in Tampa was THE BEST!
At least my son's (Michigan read:COLDER) based, Toyota Highlander 2010 started right up, and was cozy by time we exited the Indy airport.
Web-itied Eco-Bee thermostat had our house nice and toasty.
Doing thorough "spring" cleaning today, and downloading photos.

ybor city should be renamed Chickens and Cigars City. :)
Mostly fun, orlando red light cameras take getting used to, just like SanFran's I s'pose. So, I wear my ball cap low on my brow. :)
Finally got to meet back up with my brother, whom I had not seen in like a dozen years. Saw one huge gator on the golf course he lives on.
