It's not just for iPhone anymore. This time it's personal.

A new thread to discuss all things IOS.

iPhone, iPod and iPad...

Here's a pretty good reason to let others jump into IOS 10.3 before you. (It's in beta now.) They're rolling out the new file system.

When you update to iOS 10.3, your iOS device will update its file system to Apple File System (APFS). This conversion preserves existing data on your device. However, as with any software update, it is recommended that you create a backup of your device before updating.

I've always loved the Workflow app. Now it's an Apple app and free! It could get pretty awesome, now that it doesn't have to limit itself to the API's allowed to third-party developers.

10.3 was an easy and painless update on my iPhone 6S. (My iPad is too old and is somewhere in the iOS 9 age permanently.)

I was wondering how TouchID behind the screen would work. The answer, apparently: not so well.

Gruber waxes hyperbolic:

As best I’ve been able to ascertain, these builds were available to download by anyone, but they were obscured by long, unguessable URLs. Someone within Apple leaked the list of URLs to 9to5Mac and MacRumors. I’m nearly certain this wasn’t a mistake, but rather a deliberate malicious act by a rogue Apple employee. Whoever did this is the least popular person in Cupertino. More surprises were spoiled by this leak than any leak in Apple history.

If they're really putting unreleased software up on public URLs and counting on security through obscurity, they got what they deserved IMO.
