To be fair, our Cancer center head died from Pancreatic cancer. I'm sure he had the best minds advising him. Pancreatic cancer is a KILLER; regardless. And Steve did OUTLIVE (my) expectations.

Oh, I thought that was common knowledge that he was trying to treat it with some fancy diet. For a brilliant man he could sometimes be pretty foolish...

I watched The Pixar Story yesterday. It was interesting... especially the interview footage with Steve Jobs. Partly because his face seemed almost chubby at that time and also because he has a sort of minor speech impediment that I had never noticed before. It almost sounds like a lisp but not quite.

Heh, I just tweeted that the RDF also interfered with his own thinking processes.

I see that.
Truth be told, pancreatic cancer would still have likely did him in. Statistically, I am still not out of the woods, either.
It all sucks. It is still humbling to know how little we can fight some virii and cancers. But it will be interesting if and when medical technology can wipe this stuff out.
Perhaps grow/clone organs, and swap them (back) in.

[EDIT: BTW, I suggest watching the entire thing as NDT is always fun to listen to IMO) but the relevant parts are beyond the Pluto discussion.]

those lungs were fascinating.
I for one think we COULD find ways to live MUCH longer... forever? Dunno.
But I think it would be good to keep increasing our individual and thus overall/societal WISDOM in doing so, as well.
Funny, I just had this conversation with my son 2 hours ago.

Making the rounds of the computer press: Steve was majorly pissed at Android, pledged to defeat it with all of Apple's cash so long as he lived, and told Eric that he didn't need Google money - he just wanted this theft removed from the marketplace.

Even more interesting is the reported "eureka!" moment regarding TV...
