The Edison/Ford comparison comes from embodying American innovation and driving the public status quo. I think he drove the product development much deeper. Agreed that his greatness came from art as much as invention, but not quite as deep into everything as the sole inventor Da Vinci - but while Da Vinci got a lot of IP, he never had the same kind of impact on the public. Whatever - Steve's singular. We have to pick up the slack.
