What a journey.
Apple could spend $40 million and make iTunes a really good app, imo. It's way too mish-mash UI.

I think that there needs to be a complete overhaul of media selling/handling, at least on the Mac side.

Yup. It's a disaster. I keep laughing when I hear iTunes is a great model for other apps. HA!

It made a lot more sense when the choices were simpler, but it has not been thoughtfully evolved so much as "bolted into" -- back when the first minis were 1GB devices and any there were no books, apps, pictures etcetera to compete for entries in the file system it was much easier to just "sync it all" -- now that method of using a full blown computer to hold the whole enchilda of "content library" is cumbersome and I am sure that Apple is spending some of its cash on alternatives.

Like "New Coke" anything that replaces what ever crap people have gotten used to will create LOTS of bitching and moaning, as well as some gnashing of teeth (IT BROKE MY LIBRARY) and rending of garments (I thought I would NEVER say it by NOW I AM GOING TO GET A ZUNE...) so Apple has not much incentive to make radical changes. Maybe when something the size of the current Nano with all its funtionality AND that of a 3G iPad AND a microprojector becomes the new "standard"....

"tasked with creating the next generation application for manipulating media"

Sound like a political advisor to me. Is Gore not on the board of Apple any longer? :)

He's fathering the next generation media manipulator with Mrs. David.

Found where it's at!
Last time I looked, I wasn't a Mrs. Oh, sorry...

Not you! You're a current generation media manipulator.

Rrrrrreally annoying me that Spaces can't seem to remember which app was in the foreground when I flip from Space to Space. Maybe half the time. Or shows a different browser window than I had in front (and the other is hiding behind other app windows). I then have to command-tab. Usability fail, Camino problem, or is there a setting I fucked up?

I have an app focus problem ever since getting a new laptop with Snow Leopard on it, sounds related. Just in tab-switching between apps, it may jump to the right Space but very frequently will not shift from the current app to the selected one. Trying a second time works.

Yeah... but was "user should try a second time" in the design documents?

Hmmm... A4-based?

I doubt it.

Doubt the A4. OK. Meaning that you expect ... ? A5? Intel?
Lion. Love the king of the jungle idea.

Low-power Intel. The point would be to be a MacBook Air, not something that would be inevitably interpreted as an admission that the keyboardless iPad has failed.

I think Mac OS can use a bit more iOS simplicity.
I think iOS could use a bit more Mac OS maturity. (input, for one: keyboard interaction)
