Every once in a while, when my MBP wakes up, it's real slow and stuttery. Like a process is taking 100% of both cores. But activity mon says nothing much is going on. I've tried waiting, sleeping and waking again, quitting all open apps. Nada.
restart fixes it 100% of the time.
Anyone else?

Maybe searching for network mounts that had been present at last shut down? Mine doesn't do it, but I don't shut down with network mounts active much. Only thought that I have on the matter.

I see this every so often. It definitely seems network-related.

Is networking wireless? I see this on my XP notebook all the time when wireless connectivity has to re-establish.

Asshat.

I don't know how this moron tried to query secunia but the VAST MAJORITY of the links in the column for Apple that he has posted are GENERIC Unix/Linux vulnerabilities and/or non-disclosed vulnerabilities. This is NOT AT ALL THE SAME as saying that Apple has those vulnerabilities for several reasons. Firstly OS X firewall is on by default so that the most of those services are not exposed, secondly the nature of Apple's security model with regards to sudo and user accounts means that no changes to system are possible. I could go on, but I don't need to waste time with the asshat...

well, if you guys want to document (w/supporting docs) where he's wrong, i'd be glad to make a blog entry outing his asshatitude.

Fix for the keyboard lockups on Macbooks out in software update.

I'm about to install it. I had the problem several times last night but, as usual, it goes away after a reboot and might not reappear for a couple of days so it'll be a while before I can say whether this "fix" works.

Hey! Looks like someone at Apple really was listening. PilesStacks is supposedly getting fixed in 10.5.2.

What a journey.
what good is beta tester(s) if they let major issues slip out?

What a journey.

As a certified developer, I can neither confirm or deny that stacks has become very useful and not at all annoying.

Ooh! Scary! Scary! Don't we look mean? You can't see me! But I can see you!
I'm a stacks convert too. I hate to admit it. Oh wait, you didn't admit it.

I believe he was alluding to the possibility that, as a certified developer, he may or may not have access to the 10.5.2 seed which may or may not have features which may or may not make stacks very useful and not at all annoying.

I was joking. I dont' really use stacks. I don't actually use my computer. I just look at it and say, "Pretty."

That's what we mac owners do, right?

I am surprised the same old canard is played out anywhere in the world w/re to Macs vs. Windows. How anyone can be honestly bashing Macs to the degree you find in say a place like this: http://channel9.msdn.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=218493 ...or this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yg7Xh0m_Oco
It just doesn't make any sense yet commenters are all "huzzah, damn right, macs suk".

I don't understand the energy or necessity to be so ignorant.

BTW - I was led down this road from a daringfireball link: http://digitaldaily.allthingsd.com/20071219/hello-im-a-mac-and-im-a-cheapskate/

I can neither confirm or deny that your interpretation is correct.

But my stacks are good.
