My ex knew/knows of the group, but I'm pretty sure she never checked here (I think I'd have heard about it if she had). She always found the idea of friends from the internet extremely creepy, going back to the very early days of our relationship. So I didn't talk to her much about Spork.

I ate lunch with a bunch of you at MWExpo one year. I came home talking about all these people I knew that I had just met. Yeah, that was the last time I went there with my ex. One day I was faced with explaining how I 'knew' DDT to my ex. So I lied and told her he was a cycling buddy (I think I was headed to the Land Park Criterium with my daughter so that story worked). Then one day I drove to Reno to buy (with cash!) a powerbook from a guy I 'knew' (JW). I lied again (sorry JW, I don't remember what I told her but she was suspicious).

Fun times.

I never worked up the nerve to try and justify a trip to see anybody in the Indy contingent (I'm only there rarely and typically only long enough to rent a car and drive to my real destination). Someday.

We have an SF-Sacramento-Reno locus, a Minneapolis locus, and an Indianapolis locus. We used to have an Australian locus, but Tony's the sole survivor. I guess we can make a case for a UK-Netherlands locus... are any of our posters European besides Tliet and Ron?

[EDIT]

I find that I've drifted far from thread topic. Sorry; I'll stop now. Perhaps reply in Local Unmentionables, if you like.

What a journey.
Had a great 'date night' last night.
Now the point just AFTER dinner, though... with me pulling over to puke my guts out... not so great. (sigh)

Congratulations Johnny.

I am just celebrating a year anniversary with my girlfriend. A rocky start, but things are going great for the last 8 months. Sometimes things do work out.

Thanks guys.
We'd be co-habbiting by this point if either of us could get out of our houses.
Damn economy.

Better than co-hobbiting; that would cause you to be a bit short with each other.

The point of a relationship is to get a ring. The point of being a hobbit is to get rid of a ring.

Ah, so I am a hobbit-wannabe?

Great news, phred!

Sorry about the pukin', Bill. I did that once after a date night at a restaurant that had a garlic festival. 40 clove garlic chicken, garlic ice cream…

What a journey.
I had some bad run-in with shrimp scampi once. Garlic got hit with the 'guilt by association'.

I do have a ring on the way.

But it's not magical in any way.

Dammit. The one hand giveth and the other hand taketh away.

One Ring to rule them all,
One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all
And in Minneapolis bind them!
