Well.

Also needed with Spork is the "ribaldry • rumors • rats" sub-moniker

DPBD! I also owe on some kind of bet involving a Yankees cap. Double or nothing - if the Sox lose the next series vs. the pinstripes, I'll pose with a =Jets= cap at "The Penalty Box", the bar nearest to where I am, known for its fervent support of the Bruins and the most stabbings per square foot in all of New England. If they win, I get to post a youtube vid of my 18m.o. girl going "Yankees, PU stinky!"

Yo-ho-ho! Welcome back, Soup. Grats on the spouse and kid. Not so sure about the rest of it. Have some accolades anyway.

Someone call Elton John... the Circle of Life is imploding on itself. Welcome back!

Welcome back Soup! And yum! (Though I'd recommend trying the salmon with glazed ginger slivers, one for each bite of fish.)

Not to pry, but just which part of that did you regret?

I'm in Helsinki and environs for the summer, working at hiit.fi. Doing exactly what, and on what, is still in flux... my own fault for, for example, still being confused about what jobs IA v. researchers v. UX v. etc. do.

However, I'm rarely in downtown Helsinki -- the offices are in Espoo, and the cheap place to stay I found is in Kaplya, so it's like living in Fremont and working in Mountain View... sigh. Burbs depress me. I have to remember to take time to tram into the city and just walk around. Interesting architecture makes me happy.

5 accolades each for Robb and Soup! Then another 2 for Soup because he requested such.

ddt, thems the breaks. Who knows what you're supposed to do? Only you. I think my last internship was a bit loose on guidance so I eventually took more control to get an outcome I wanted.

All the things to do I learned in a week there: There's a sizable design district in downtown Helsinki, and a market of some sort (tourist bait made of reindeer parts?) at the docks. Two big nice churches near each other, one white and one red. Take the ferry to Soumenlinna, the island fortress, and have a weekend picnic/wanderabout.

Soup!

Edit: "Good to see you, Soup. Things have been awfully dull around here. Now you're back. I hope we're going to have some gratuitous sex and violence."

It was Soup who led me to Spork when I was looking for the Knife after he was fired from MacWeek. Jesus that was a long time ago. Funny, just today the Knife's alter-ego tweeted about his scoops of old. I won't out MTK, though he has been outed by others, including John Gruber and Wikipedia, if you know where to look. Anyway, thanks again Soup.

In theory, I invited a bunch of people to google+ from spork. Not sure if/when you will receive it. Or private message me your e-mail address and I'll try to add

Tom theoretically sent me an invite but it still won't let me in.

If someone else wants to try sending me one, please send it to Cloudscout at gmail.

I got invited by a classmate but wasn't sure I wanted to join -- a few days later I clicked the link (what the hell, that company already has my personal data, probably) and saw that they were closed?

I sent both of you invites yesterday. We'll just have to leave it up to whatever magic algorithm they have going.

Roger – July 01, 2011 11:51AM Reply Quote
Folks are saying there's a workaround for the invite freeze -- supposedly adding an email address to a Circle that you then share something (anything, lorem ipsum will do) with the Circle via "share by email" gets that email immediately allowed to sign up. Can't verify this firsthand, but if people are feeling eager you might try that.

I think that's the method Tom tried but it still wasn't able to join.
