I've posted over at the Phorum message board with a bug for the button. Looks like it works in Firefox, but not in Safari (3 or 4).
In any case, if you use bbcode syntax (square brackets, instead of the parens I use below) you can use the Spoiler tag thusly:
(spoiler=name of spoiler)Spoiler text(/spoiler)
Again, square brackets [ and ] instead of parens.

It worked in Safari 4 for me. I use the standard Phorum layout and not the old spork layout, don't know if that would make a difference.
