Well, yes, you know. We all need them some times.

Found where it's at!
I am so tempted by TNiP, especially after really seeing the difference in crispness versus my original iPad. Plus, my current device now claims to not support the iHome dock I've been using with it for six months. There's just other things I have to take care of over the next couple of months...

I am testing out the dictation features of the iPad. eight sayings to be a bit hit and miss <-- that is meant to be "it seems to be a bit hit and miss" (end of test...)
Very glad I got a stylus (a nice thick rubbery one) but I think I might splurge on a Bluetooth keyboard as well. Now, essential apps or handy apps -- tips/suggestions?

I am not very impressed with the screen protectors. I went through two of them and even the second one had little bubbles/specks despite cleaning the screen vigorously. I'm tempted not to bother as i've got a decent case/cover. How many of you guys bother with a screen cover?
Typing is a lot slower than a keyboard but a lot has to do with the angle of the iPad.
Need to file away my fingernails...

I don't use a screen protecter, just one of Apple's magnetic "cases." Never had a problem.

I can't stand screen protectors on any device.

The one that came with my Speck case for the iPhone is unnoticeable.

I have one on my iPhone, and it's not bad, but I wouldn't try to put a screen protector on anything bigger. I'm just using a smart cover on my new iPad.

now that we have smart covers, i don't think the screen protectors are necessary.

Interesting, though I still like the Adonit accessory.
In other news: should I avoid the Skype 4.0 update for iPhone and iPad? I'm clinging desperately to v2.8x on the desktop.

Having used the iPad a few weeks now, I have to say the color and clarity of the screen it the best I've ever seen. Even SD movies are so clear and vivid. The only drawback is the glare when trying to use it outdoors...

Ready to write off that MacBook and go with a more powerful desktop + iPad now, Tony?

Oh, definitely not. There's things the iPad does well and things the laptop does well. But the iPad is limited in a lot of ways so it'll never be a laptop replacement (being limited to email or Dropbox for transferring files is the biggest drawback). iOs is certainly no snow leopard...

So my iPad 1 does not do iOS 6. This leaves me open to the possibility of a new tablet.
The apps I use the most are Safari, Mail, Epicurious, Food Network, Kindle. $400 for what the iPad 2 offers is not worth it to me. What would people recommend as an alternative tablet?

Nexus vs Fire HD. The Fire's hardware is better (whatever that means in this post-PC world) but the software is sluggish. I'd try out the Nexus, but really you're gotta wait for the iPad mini. But... what do you need iOS 6 for?

$600 for the 32GB iPad3 is too much?
You'll absolutely ♥ the retina screen.

I really don't use it that often to justify that amount. I still have a laptop I am happy with. This device is basically and e-reader and browser at this point.
I guess I should wait for the iPad mini before making a decision. $300 is my tipping point. Will probably jailbreak the iPad at some point to see if I can get a less buggy browser. If Safari didn't crash every two minutes, I would live with the iPad 1 for a long time.
