The more the boxes change, the more they stay the same... or don't.

Apparently OpenCL is going to make heavy use of the new graphics processors and that will be the core of Snow Leopard. It's been a very long time since I bought a new Mac (I don't think I've ever bought a new one), but next time I'm in the UK I'm going to pick up a white MacBook from DixonsTaxfree. It's a steal imho.

i've a friend who really needs to replace her old, 1GHz PowerBook G4 -- she needs to work on it, more HD, and do her music projects. if anyone's selling a laptop more modern that than, let me know... .

how about this as an add on to the mini? i mean, it's already my server, right?

now the question is, what would help boost my mini speed more? one of those or a new mini? i've got a 1.6 core duo mini. truth be told though, much of the junk is on a media library connected via FW 800, spinning at 7200rpm so not sure.

What a journey.
I don't like the Wrath of Kahn font they use on their site. I'd stay away.

speaking of which, i'm trying to deal with MCE technologies again. they are notorious for charging credit cards for stock they don't have. last fall i waited a month for a product that never shipped (on Monday, I promise). That said, here's an opinion:

I think that the big reason for all-nVidia is OpenCL and Snow Leopard.

So what's the deal with iMovie not working on the new Mini? Seems like a dumb move.

What? I have not heard this. Works fine on my old mini.

Got a brand new Mini, 2GB, says you need a Quartz Extreme compatible graphics card, won't even launch.

Uh... I don't think my ALS iMac G5 has a quartz compatible. Nor my 1.6 Core2duo, neither.

To be more precise, the message is "iMovie requires a graphics card that is compatible with Quartz Extreme. One or more of your graphics cards does not support Quartz Extreme."
The computer is running headless if that makes any difference. iMovie version 8.0

This just not make sense. Did you check apple.com/support forums?

I use Apple Remote Desktop to control mine. So, in effect, no monitor or headless just like that, too. Mine works fine. Like to see a screenshot?
Instead of VNC, have you tried Screen Sharing? Not sure if there is on iota of difference. I know they all work under the covers about the same. But who knows?

Yours is also new 2009 model? I am using Leopard screen sharing which == VNC if you look at go to servers.

Wrong thread, that was me, guess you have to do a search for "imovie error when using VNC"
