Politics. Don Granberry on the old Spork Boards was quite fond of talking about them, and here we continue on in that fine tradition.

Finally a tea party which is not funded by some billionaires with an agenda. http://wearethe99percent.tumblr.com/

Weird story. But... good for them, I guess.

I dunno whether I'd call them tea-party, tliet.

They seem as much a left-wing group as anything else. Most of the tea-party would call them communists...

Not sure where to put this, but this is brilliant work. Keylogger infects DOD networks.

Found where it's at!
Infected via sneaker net. I know that when a USB storage device of any sort is connected to a computer connected just about anywhere in DoD's networks, encryption is applied. That is supposed to defeat the sneaker net. However, nothing is 100%.

This cartoon could use some primary source links, but I have read about examples that line up pretty well to some of these panels.

CNN is reporting that the FBI and DEA have broken up an attempt to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the US on American soil by "elements of Iran's government."

Holy shit. Either Iran is seriously trying to destabilize the Gulf and raise the stakes in their pissing match with us, or we're manufacturing a pretext to justify upcoming anti-Iranian action. I'm voting for the former, but it may end up providing a pretext anyway.

This is a very bad thing.

[EDIT] I forgot to add the most likely possibility, given recent reports of turmoil inside Iran's government, that this action was not endorsed by the entire government, but by a group trying to improve their internal position by generating an external threat. Still bad news.

[EDIT[EDIT] Or the Mossad set the whole thing up to increase US and Saudi support/acceptance of eventual Israeli action against Iranian nuclear sites. I have to turn my paranoia dial down a few notches.

(No, that's just what THEY'D want me to do!)

The Revolutionary Guard. What a surprise. And, hey, killing senators is "no big deal."

Well said, Mr Krugman...

Money talks in politics and what the financial industry's money has been saying is that it will punish any politician who dares to criticise, no matter how gently, the industry's behaviour. And this explains the industry's shock over recent events.
Until a few weeks ago it seemed as if Wall Street had effectively bribed and bullied the political system into forgetting about that whole drawing lavish pay cheques while destroying the world economy thing. Then, all of a sudden, some people insisted on bringing the subject up again.
And their outrage has found resonance with millions of Americans. No wonder Wall Street is whining.

aside from the appearance of ripping of bob and ray, I found this to be firmly in the "It'd be funny if it weren't so true" camp.

I think that the Occupy Wall Street crowd would go farther if they dialed up the "Civil Rights Protester Fervor" and dialed down the "Burning Man Douche" atmosphere.

I would not be surprised if some Industrial/Military complex-leading corporation sales engineer actually performed some targeting, and button-pushing.
Same with some surgeries/procedures in the medical field, as well.

Jaundiced/cynical as that may be.

You should get that jaundice checked out, Bill. I thought you just put a yellowish filter on your avatar.
