Every election is the most important one.

Normally, yes, but as Obama is from Chicago he's got the dead vote sewn up.

An enThralled constituency.

A Myth: The Fallen Lords reference? Wow. That takes me back...

Will Dan Savage be able to make "talking about baseball" more successful than "lifting my luggage"? Reaching "Santorum" levels is out of the question, of course.

For some reason, I read that as "Doc Savage," which confused me terribly.

"The Man of Bronze" and that article really, really, shouldn't be associated with each other.

Let her set up a church...

Let's see... the hurricane went near our capital, without significant damage to it, and hit a whole lot of churches, a number of which were damaged. I think that the evidence is clear: God hates Christians.

Yes, but that's because gays put curses on those churches.

Oh man, I missed the Repub debate. And this happened, according to TPM: "Jon Huntsman defending science on stage at GOP event and the crowd goes silent like a candidate were forced to explain a NAMBLA membership."

I missed it too. I have to admit TPM is a guilty pleasure when I'm feeling partisan. I like Huntsman.

I admit I've only half-listened to only some of it but... is Obama at least speaking in sound bite-able ideas, stressing what we've all benefitted from government-wise, and actually sounding a little... passionate?

If only she had gulped ddt - but then what would the goopers have had to froth and lather about...

By the nature of my social media usage, I get connected to many RWNJs, so I get the "privilege" of seeing all sorts of garbage. I'm passing this one along just as a data point, because it exemplifies the "fuck you" attitude.

Intentionally unattributed because these tweets are more the point than who said it (three in a row, same person, comments mine )

"Obama trying to make Congress jump at his command but he had 3 yrs to create jobs. His lack of planning is not our emergency @SpeakerBoehner" (no matter that his own party considered abortion more important than jobs)
"I have seen this in business when a CEO is trying to save his ass. Numbers are down beat on the execs TODAY. Then he gets fired. Like Obama!" (gotta mention the election instead of solutions...)
"Verily I hope Congress creates their own jobs bill and if Harry Reid and Obama don't like it.. Tough luck for them. #digin @SpeakerBoehner" ("I'll conveniently ignore the fact that the opposite is where it stands right now, there is a jobs bill presented, if Boehner and Ryan and McConnell don't like it, tough luck for them." Apparently math wasn't this guy's strong point; "controlling" - loosely described - 1/2 of 1/3 of the gov't branches ≠ majority.)

Yeah, Huntsman seems relatively sane, but in this crowd of Republican candidates, all that means is that he doesn't throw his own feces _in public_.

More substantially: sad to say, his published tax proposals are regressive, anti-economics, and about as realistic and helpful as Steve Forbes's were. That alone is a DQ.

How the hell has Obama managed to screw the pooch so badly here?

He's a real chance of being a one-termer and the GOP/Tea party alternatives are all terrifying...

Bring back Clinton...

El Jeffe – September 13, 2011 04:18PM Reply Quote
What a journey.
If he and dems have good reason to believe the economy will tank further, or actually help that happen, it might make a real poison pill to 'throw' an election.

Obama is basically GWB redux; who would you vote for?

GWB was able to actually enact his policies. Obama can't even get his own party to follow him. Hillary was the leadership's choice; the people flouted them and screwed the plan up. So we get four years of clusterfuck and in 2012 the New Dark Age really kicks in.
