Figures that would be Bachmann on the Laura Ingraham Show. During law school, I shared an office with Laura Ingraham one summer. Very personable, and charming in her way (at least she was 20 years ago), but also clearly insane.

I don't know anything about Gore Vidal but what he wrote in that book. And that he has a first name of some distant, great inventor of the interwebs! :)
Hey, Ann C. is one scary looking B. And she'd be so much better if she'd quit being so freaking snide.

So, a tax concession on something is the "nanny state?" Bizarre
I thought that the libertarian/conservative view was tax cuts = doubleplusgood and tax concessions = plusgood
Is it now simply anything proposed by democrats = doubleplusungood ?

After college, I spent the fall and winter 1986-87 working in the office of Barbara Mikulski, one of the most liberal members of Congress. I was, among other things, the office auto-pen, as I could do a decent copy of her signature (Senators have machines to do this, but House members did not, at least at the time). On my last day of that summer in law school in which I shared an office with Laura Ingraham (1989), I had finished my last project and had nothing to do, and I found myself idly scribbling Mikulski's signature, just to see if I could still do it. I then left the room to chat with a friend. When I came back, I found Laura standing at my desk, holding my notepad in her trembling hands. "Jeff," she said, a tremor in her voice, "why are you signing Barbara Mikulski's name?"
"Laura," I replied, "there's something I've kept from you all summer. I'm ... a liberal."
She threw back her head and screamed.
True story.

tliet,
You seem surprised. Republicans being "political" about the economy? Say it isn't so!

Well, most of the electorate has cognitive dissonance problems beyond belief, so I don't think it will have an impact on Huckabee's chances.
