Every election is the most important one.

No phone spam yet, though I block a lot of calls and I don't think that the NRA has my current number.

What's weird is that, the gun folks have gotten so used to an outcry in favor of gun control after a shooting, that they now start preemptively posting arguments against gun control as soon as an incident like this takes place. My wife saw some people online this morning blaming the Aurora incident on liberals, saying it was a deliberate provocation intended to justify new gun control legislation. Clearly, speaking well in advance of any evidence. And I can't imagine Obama would want to open that can of worms in an election year.

No, but Chris Preimesberger at eWeek got this:

"Hello all,

WNYT will be interviewing Jeff regarding my pitch to comment on the services nfra now provides and how technological advances in communications are making both precautionary measures and response much more feasible than in the past. (Like the Aurora, CO shooting....)

I have prepared and attached talking points which will provide a clear message for you to focus on, key points to hit as well as transitional phrases to help you drive the interview.

Let me know if you have any questions.

In addition to:

"Already have received an email from a security company taking advantage of the Aurora, Colo. tragedy to push its security cameras and software. Bad, bad move."

And some right-wing pundits are already calling it an assault on Christians. Barf.

Sadly,

Is it (legally) possible to contribute to a presidential campaign without supplying contact info, perhaps through a PAC or SuperPAC? They all seem to want ways to contact me, which is just what I DON'T want them to do.

Today Romney campaigned at Acme Industries. He declined to comment on a class-action suit against the company that claims their anvils, Bat-man suits, and magnetic birdseed are defective, as claimed by the originator of the suit, one Mr. Wile E. Coyote.

Harry Reid is now accusing Romney of not having paid ANY taxes for ten years. Puts Romney in an odd position; he IS the first candidate not to release many years of tax returns in a long time, but to refute these claims he would have to release the returns. GOP politicians are shocked, shocked I say, about this allegation and can't understand how things have gotten to the point that a multi-milliondollar patriot might have to explain why he deserves tax shelters denied to lesser folk.

In the mean time, the Birthers are now demanding actual film footage of Obama being born in a Hawaiian hospital, personally certified by the governor at the time, the heir to the last Polynesian King of Hawai'i, and by James Cook the European discoverer of the islands.

I don't have any idea whether Willard Romney paid no taxes, or some taxes, or paid an annual tribute to Anubis, Egyptian God Of The Dead, over the years in question.

If Romney paid annual tribute to Anubis, I'm voting for him! (Romney, not Anubis. Anubis was born in Egypt. Near Kenya.)

Don't blame me, I voted for Ra.

From bash.org:

Quantum Romneyism:
Romney holds a superposition of all political opinions until you observe him, then they collapse based on the audience

What a journey.
Amazon's book purchases USA map - red/blue - by right/left book purchases.

(I thought the left bought/read more?)

Does Amazon break out bulk (100+) purchases? The NY Times Book Review just puts a dagger next to titles on their best-seller list to indicate that yeah, that happened, but stops there. Many, many titles, and a large proportion of "right-wing" titles, get pumped up the list that way.

That's not to suggest cheating -- many of these bulk purchases are, say, so the books can be included in the purchase price of tickets to a talk/rally/conference, for example.

But that is to say that data alone, though suggestive of a narrative, doesn't really tell the whole story.

ddt, you just can't handle the truth - Paul Ryan's inspired the masses to pick up Atlas Shrugged, while liberals are just rewatching old Michael Moore films until the next one comes out.

I can't explain that heat map. But I thought it was interesting. Of any value? nope.
It was Adam Curry that encouraged me to read Atlas Shrugged a bit back. And since then I have consumed WAY TOO MANY books.
I am on a bit of a hiatus --> bwain hoorts.

I especially liked the "May your grandchildren baptise you after you're dead" (because that actually happened to someone, didn't it?)

Happened to a lot of people. I think that Anne Frank got post-humously baptized nine or ten times. It was a Mormon practice; I think that they discourage it now.

Bain & Company saved by federal bailout. Taxpayers screwed, but the executives got nice bonuses.

Well, if the Obama camp can't swiftboat Romney for the rank hypocrisy in that - they don't deserve to win.

"Bailouts are wrong, unless they're for Mitt" apparently...
