Every election is the most important one.

"Small Govt" = "NO govt spending, unless it's on stuff for me"

How about that Stephen Colbert stump speech?

Newt's plan for an American state on the moon is in violation of treaty... as well as insane.

Why the hell not propose colonizing Kepler-22b's planets? If you're going to pose as a visionary by proposing something that can't possibly happen in your lifetime, then go for the gold.

You'd win the Ewok vote.

Hey, with these candidates anything can happen...

If it was a tea-party only colony I'd be all for it, providing it was all of them...

Well, at least one candidate is officially mad in my opinion. He's just spewing the stuff that he found in his underpants when he woke up.

Because Australia has (kinda, sorta) universal health care I too wear my "do not euthanise" bracelet. Common knowledge. It's next to my "communist sinner" bracelet, so they know to leave me behind when the rapture happens...

In a way I'd love it if Santorum won the primaries. Dan Savage would have a field day and everyday Americans would realise the GOP and the tea-party need to have a little time out in the naughty corner...

Oh, yeah, like we'd ever get a chance to vote out the Theocracy once it gets elected.

The primaries, not the election. As nutty as I think some Americans are, I don't think they're THAT nutty...

(are they?)

Yes. God told them to be.

How many of the 2012 Republican Presidential candidates said that god told them to run? Their god must have been joking, or had more subtle plans... or they multiplexed the signal.

Or he meant for them to fail, to teach them humility.

Tony Leggett (Moderator) – February 19, 2012 01:16PM Reply Quote
So when they're caught buggering the rent-boy, God made them do it?

ddt – February 19, 2012 04:09PM Reply Quote
Well, JW has a good point. They didn't say their own personal jesus wanted them to win, just run... .

Ah, missed it, but some journalists and bloggers have done some research into Rick's claims;

God, there's so much to like about the dutch. When I'm old, crusty and riddled with arthritis, I want to live there (briefly)...

What a journey.
you mean live a brief/short life? Or just visit and leave...but continue to live?

tliet – February 25, 2012 08:15PM Reply Quote
And now Rachel Maddow has picked up the story; http://youtu.be/0V4U0dOax3Y

It's not that a big of a deal overhere as she's projecting it to be though...

For many people, hitting the last few of their "twilight years" (late 70s/80s/90s) can be an undignified process of debilitating illness, pain, loss of movement/function/continence as well as loss of independence/autonomy...

For someone with a severe disability, those twilight years will be that, only exponentially so... (between this, this, and this - which can lead to this, it's no picnic being an ageing cripple...)

I hope that when or if I get to that stage, we live in an enlightened enough age that should I (or anyone for that matter*) decide that my quality of life is no longer bearable - I can end it in some dignity rather than ending up like this. If that ain't "end-times" hell-on-earth, I don't know what is...

Required viewing: The Diving Bell & the Butterfly and The Sea Inside....

(And I know my comments will upset this lot, but that's my personal view).

(*Note: Here I mean other people deciding if/when their own quality of live is no longer bearable, not death panels deciding about mine...)
