20 or 30 years ago, he lived a few floors below my grandparents. He was always nice. And he was not a bad artist (see "Far Away, So Close").

What a journey.
I always like the foreign film
Wings of Desire from which they spun
City of Angels
I had an operation once and the music that was playing beforehand was the song I most associate with City of Angels. Iris from the
Goo Goo Dolls.
I said Great, play a song from a movie where the GUY DIES!!! not what I want to hear right now. :)

PIcked up the quartet of A Song Of Ice and Fire after watching one episode of Game of Thrones on HBO. Finished the 1st book, watched the first season, finished the second book. I really like this series.

I've just started the fourth book. Great fantasy for adults. A lot of violence and cruelty make it inappropriate for kids, but a tightly-woven plot and excellent pacing really work for me. I normally hate the jumping from character to character in a book (like when LoTR jumped between Frodo and Sam and the rest of the Fellowship), but Martin does it very well. You're always sorry to leave the character you're with, but get pulled into the new character almost immediately.
You DO know that a fifth book is coming out next week, don't you?
Winter is coming.

that was going to be my question with the videos. Some reason I could not find a rating for it online in short order. But, I gave up quickly.

I thought the HBO series was brilliant (it started a bit slow, but was spectacularly good by the end). I may have to start on the books to hold me over until the series resumes next spring.

Ah, that's what my wife's been glued to the last week. She hates it. I read just one line over her shoulder, She covered her breasts with her hands. “I've flowered.” And that was enough. Though, in theory, Lord of the Rings + sex sounds pretty good.

It's kind of like what medieval Europe might have been like with a more laid-back faith than Christianity. And seasons that last for years. At the start of things, magic is so rare that the sophisticated nobility don't believe it exists anymore. Things change.

My girlfriend and I watched those in a couple marathons. I was stunned by the quality of the acting and production. Especially the acting chops of Peter Dinklage. I've seen him in Elf and other comedies, but wow. He quickly became our favorite character.

I just finished the fourth book. Waiting for number five this week. Amazing books, but if I'd finished book four in 2005 I'd want Martin's blood. Six years for the second half of the book he claimed he was already well into?

John,
Yes, I have ordered the 5th on kindle. Just in time for a week's vacation coming up.
Jeff,
I warn you, I started out the same way. Let me read the second gradually while I wait for the series. I have been up until 2AM reading the books. Very addictive.
I am not going to put any spoilers, but no character is safe in this series.
Edit: As if I didn't have little enough free time, I just started watching Breaking Bad this week. Another great series.
