On a weirder note -- anybody ever watch the HGTV show "Hidden Potential"? http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/shows_hhdpo/0,3120,HGTV_27716,00.html The premise is they get a couple looking to buy an older house look at three and choose one renovate to suit their current needs. One of the hosts is an architect. He uses some sort of visual designer software on a MBP to show the couple how the place would look with a new kitchen, bath and a few less walls. The work is not actually done, so there is like NO COST other than driving to three open houses. The laptop is CLEARLY a 15" MBP but in the cheesiest bit of attempted low tech logo hiding they slap a circle of foil duct patch over the apple. WTF? It fools NO ONE, especially as the foil is pressed down tightly and one can SEE the margins of the logo THROUGH the foil! Hello! Have you heard of "post production"?!? WHY GOD WHY?

Sadly you you probably correct -- the bizarre thing is that some of the shows on HGTV have huge crews with trailers full of tools and whatnot. This show is literally the architect, a co-host, and a car to drive to each house. Has to be lowest budget of anything they do. And the STILL can't bring themselves to digitally hide the Apple logo. So wrong...

If they want a good story maybe they should hire Diablo Cody.

Man, somehow NPR's podcasts feed(s) were royally fucked this morning. I just subscribe to their one and only consistently mature and proper podcast. But this morning iTunes started downloading a shitload of NPR shows, all they back into early 2007. No other podcast feed provider has had this type of issue for me. I'd be interested to see if anyone reports on this in any blogs or so today.

Questions on V: The Miniseries and V: The Final Battle.

Were they shown in a widescreen aspect ration in 1983? My memory is fuzzy as I don't think I ever watched more than a couple of minutes of the show as a kid. My hunch is that it was shown Full Frame as the general TV audience in 1983 would not have understood the Letterbox format on their 13-19" color TVs.

If it was shot 1.33:1 the questions then become: What is the DVD transfer like and do they crop the top and bottom to make it 1.85:1?

Inquiring minds want to know!
