Film, TV, video DVD, DV, Flash. Put the Multi to use here, folks.

Meh. The best special effect was keeping Joffrey's new squeeze's neckline just... right... there... and no further.
Amen to that. Although I keep picturing her as Anne Boleyn from
The Tudors

I've got the whole damn season TiVO'd... except for the first two episodes. I refuse to watch from the middle; I thought HBO would re-air episodes, but clearly they're holding out for Blu-Ray sales. I'm not going to buy the disks just for two episodes. I guess I should look for torrents, but I dread the thought of wading through that mess. Maybe HBO will re-air the season in a few months.
HBO Go is your friend, if you have access to it.
Edit: John, Check your PMs.

Me too. It was quite distracting when she first showed up: "Oh look, there's Anne Boleyn."

I didn't see it on HBO Go when I checked for it, after I realized that TiVO hadn't recorded those two episodes. I'll check again. I'll also check my PM's, thanks.

I think I've got a source or two now, thanks. I don't download much, and I am getting increasingly leery of doing so in the current legal environment.

What a journey.
You guys DID hear that PBS Car Talk (Click and Clack) are retiring?
sad

I know! But there will be archive-mix shows for a few more years. (Don't try to get your fix through the awful animated PBS show of a few years back.)

Well, you could take some comfort in the fact that
they'll be suing 4 million people if they go after you.
I'll take those odds.

I wanted to pay them for it. In fact, I subscribe to HBO, so I DID pay for it. Hell, if they'd put it on iTMS or Amazon, I'd have paid for those two episodes AGAIN. Now I just want to watch it.

I'd like to pay for them too (well, technically I kinda do - to assuage my piratey guilt I do buy the box set when it finally comes out).
So it's not available on HBO Go?

It is, actually, although you have to forego the big screen (at least from an iPad/iPhone--no AirPlay).

So, you're saying I shouldn't go see Prometheus at the IMAX theater for my sole (kids free) moviegoing experience this year?

Love the Big Questions it approaches, even if they're unanswered. A few potential holes didn't stop my enjoyment of it. Gorgeous cinematography and sound - you have to see it in a theater.

It'll make for a gorgeous and interesting "The Art of..." or "The Making of..." book. Though it kind of trivializes, imho, the iconic strangeness of the original Geiger designs.
As for the film: it is a great set of storyboards. But the script is nonsensical and insulting, in that it is internally inconsistent, trivializes and just gets wrong what science is, for some reason rushes everything (ex: why does everything have to get done in the same day? narratively, spreading the weirdness over long "we have to wait" periods would be so much more effective), EVERYONE has daddy issues (thanks, Lost writers), "faith" is thrown in (see comment about Lost writers) as something that fucks up scientific thinking even further, and people simply don't act in any way that makes a whit of sense. A geologist who has just mapped tunnels -- the map of which, with their location, is used back at the ship with which they are in radio contact -- gets lost within minutes WHILE HE'S TALKING TO SOMEONE WHO IS LOOKING AT THE MAP WITH HIS LOCATION. Science seems to be at about the level of the Scooby gang -- "hey, let's just walk over here, let's fuck with stuff before we even record it". I really didn't understand why "leave" was incompatible with "let's leave and watch from a distance for a bit and maybe come back". The DNA _exact_ matching is just a middle finger to the audience; one online comment I saw summed it up as, "couldn't they have found a freshman biology student?" It's just lazy.
As for the Big Questions? Like, "did ancient aliens create us"? I'm sorry, jk, but these are, at best, stoned sophomore Big Questions. And even if you like them, they're just tossed out into the script as excuses for mandatory plot beats, ignored, piled higher and deeper, and don't even make sense when they're saying them -- kind of the narrative equivalent of running along the axis of a falling spaceship when rolling three feet to the side would save you.
