Winona Ryder is going to be Spock's mom.

Wait, I thought they were going to get Harvey Firestein to play Spocks mom this time?

That's creepy.

Sssssssspock!

I'm very interested in this as well, except for one thing:

Time travel.

Bearman & Co. ruined time travel in the ST universe for the foreseeable future. Used it WAY too much. Now it's almost like you can't have a ST movie or show without time travel. Ugh.

I'll still see it and hope it does well, but lose the time travel guys, mkay?

I haven't read anything on the plot. I didn't know they were going to do time travel again. :-(

I thought they would have an old Spock remembering the early days of the Enterprise... and take it from there.

Somehow, that sounds lamer than time travel. ;)

That's the rumor I've heard. Take it for what it's worth.

He only has to be in the movie for maybe a minute... on his death bed or something.

Or they could have a moment where spock meets himself in the future. Maybe the Guardian of Forever will be in the episode (oops---movie)...

*shrug* It can't suck. This will be the end of Trek if it does.

I've also heard rumors that the Enterprise is built on Earth in Area 51. That also gives me concern.

The Enterprise is a space vehicle that was constructed in space. If it's built on the Earth, how does it get into space? On the back of a 747? Come on!

It's stuff like this that keeps my enthusiasm for the project dampened. Of course, some liberties were taken with Spider Man, too, like the web shooters. That worked out ok, and actually better. Too bad the movies sucked (first one wasn't bad).

Someone is leaking false information. They've had problems in the past with entire scripts getting leaked so I bet this is an attempt to throw people off.

Starships are built in space. In drydock. That photo I posted was enhanced... so the background looks lite... but I think that it looked like it was in space to me.

There's a supposed teaser trailer on YouTube that shows them building the Enterprise--lots of welding and stuff. And the guys are NOT in space suits.

It could be a fake. I hope it's a fake. Like you, I want this movie to be good. And I would like to believe all this is false information, but others in Hollywood have wanted to leave their "mark" on a project and end up screwing it up.

We'll see.

maybe it was gaffers building the set?

Nah, probably part of a Ford commercial.

Nah, probably part of a Ford commercial.

It could be that they're just not done with effects and the people were "placeholders" for effects.

Incidentally, I finally got to a Skylar episode of Heroes where he is introduced and you actually see him. I sure hope his acting gets better (It is only the first episode with him in it)--but I think he'll be an alright Spock.

So, Baseline Magazine has a slideshow thing on The 10 Greatest Hacker Movies of All Time.

It's horrible.

1) Breach
2) Firewall
3) Swordfish
4) Takedown
5) The Matrix
6) Office Space
7) Pirates of Silicon Valley
8) Enemy of the State
9) Independence Day
10) Golden Eye

Come on! There are several movies that deserve to be on the list more than these. What about:

Hackers
Sneakers
War Games
Real Genius
Tron

Seriously. What were they thinking?

Pirates of Silicon Valley?
Firewall was awful. Breach had like one hack. I'm surprised they didn't add Antitrust or Paycheck to that awful list.

I agree with all of these. Hackers was good (topless Angelina!), but sort of like Swordfish in execution.

Ahh, Antitrust was the other one I was trying to think of.

Given their "standards" I'm surprised they didn't include Superman III or The Italian Job on the list.

Independence Day? "Hacking" was a plot point not the driving factor in the movie. Same with Office Space, Enemy of the State (which I love--and was that really hacking or Big Brother having his way) and many of the others on that list. Ugh. Why didn't they just add The Net, Virtuosity and Lawnmower Man? It would have been a more accurate list with those movies at least.

Strongly agree. We should bombard the author with emails stating the real list.

OMG Breach?

You need to swap out the Waaaaan (like Juan)...??? you need to get an ATM?

Ugh...

I just cringe at most of these movies that "talk techie"... "It's a P6 chip. Triple the speed of the Pentium!!!"

Oh, and a good hacker can break into this super secret pentagon system in 60 minutes. You've got 60 seconds. Oh, and im gonna have this nice girl give you a hummer while you're doing it just so you can prove your "leetness". (hit couple keystrokes) Wow... command prompt... I can hack this!

Morg "ugh... it just hurts sometimes..." anti
