This is basically a shot fired across the GPU outfits bows, Tony. Intel would not ordinarily fool with graphics chips at all, let alone attempt to cram that functionality onto the die of the CPU, but Nvidia has started making other kinds of chips and that nibbles away at Intel's clientele. Have any idea how many years Andy Groves tried to land an account with Apple?

And AMD has ATI. Gotta keep up with the Joneses.

Indeed timely article and the first comment is perfectly cogent as well. What is with the FTC? Will they also forbid math coprocessors on Intel chips?

I think we are about to see Capitalism at its most competitive. That is usually when our governors step in and try to referee things.

But now, as Intel spokesperson George Alfs told Betanews this afternoon, mobile (not desktop) editions of "Westmere"-based systems will include a feature called Switchable Graphics, which will enable them to "hot-switch" between integrated and discrete graphics without rebooting. Alfs stated this feature will be compatible with both ATI and Nvidia mobile graphics cards.

Panic over...

His mannerisms are reminiscent of Jack Benny.

Freeverse gets bought out.

All I can say is they'd better not mess with the burning monkeys.
