It must be weird... to be thought brilliant for decades... to think YOURSELF brilliant because the money kept pouring in... and suddenly to find out that you're incompetent; that you profited because of where and when you were, not WHO you were... and to know that your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, and rivals are finding out the truth about you at the same time.

The Steven Good episode is odd. His firm (started by his father, whom he a very public feud with over the use of the name) was the PREMIER auctioneer of properties. They really knew the markets they were active in. Whether things were going up in value or down they seemed to be able to shift around and do really well.

The firm also had a pretty well respect "hard money lending" facility that many real estate investors would use for short term financing. I sorta wonder if maybe that part of the business got sucked into some kind of vortex of depressed values OR the guys that were funding it were maybe tied in to some broader criminal enterprise.

I think a guy in AZ offed himself about 6 months ago for similar reasons.

Kinda makes you appreciate living down a few rungs...

I read that a week or so ago. But my previous post had more to do with the suicide of the execs. Hubris...

It's not only the execs who commit suicide, also (ex?)billionaires do that...

It hasn't been a good day for inhabitants of creepy television islands. Ricardo Montalban has also passed away.

It's the end for Circuit City. They're closing all 567 remaining stores. Game over.
