He was stupid to have fled the country as in those days it would have indeed not been more than a slap on the wrist. But the case they now make it out to be is a bit over the top as well. I think they ought to have bigger fish to fry.

I'm a little late to this particular game, but: no. There are two offenses here. One is the rape, which is disgusting and offensive and deserving of jail time. The other is fleeing the country to escape punishment. And this too is a serious offense. I'm sorry, but Polanski doesn't get to live a long and comfortable life in France, raising a family and receiving plaudits for his work--all things that would not have been possible, or at least would have been substantially delayed had he stayed in the US to face punishment for a crime to which he pled guilty--and then, when the authorities finally catch up to him, claim that he should be left alone because he's an old man. The only reason he's facing punishment now, rather than shortly after the offense, is that he fled three decades ago, and it's entirely appropriate to send a strong message that flight is not a get out of jail free card.

Apparently the Aussie supermarket company, Woolworths (which I gather is different than the British / US five& dime...) changed their logo. It is a bit too apple-ish for the trademark lawyers of a certain computer company. Lawsuit is in process. I see no similarity whatsoever as far as trademark infringement spirit of the law is concerned in my opinion.

I think the issue is that they're applying for a blanket trademark which would allow them to use it for anything including making computers/cellphones should they so choose. There is enough of a similarity that Apple doesn't have a lot of choice but to raise the issue.

companies have to mount trademark defenses just to prove they have -- else risk losing it.

8MB 5200RPM? No thanks. Slow and capacious, better for an external case.

Also, it's a 12mm drive, which means it will only fit in the 17" old-style MBP. If you've got a Unibody MBP, it should fit in all of them.
