the science of that sounds weak.

The science of 90% of all cancer linkages is weak!

Honestly, that is why there are almost no 'smoking guns' as to what specific chemical compounds cause cells to go cancerous. Heck 99% of chemotherapy is not about "putting the cancer cells back on the path of normal cellular division", it is about KILLING as many of the bad cells as is possible w/o actually causing death to the patient!

The researchers that do focus on finding the 'chemical triggers' that do turn normal cells into bad so rarely have success that the even some of the big national research labs are losing their optimism towards finding a universal cancer halting / reversing therapy. Prevention may make more sense economically: http://www.cancerpreventionfund.org/pageinpage/institutions.cfm

Save us, Lord, from the furries of the Norsemen!
I don't remember if I've previously posted about my ongoing mutation into some sort of lizard. My doctor recommended that I take niacin to help with my marginally high cholesterol. I took it for five days, and developed a terrible rash over my arms and legs, with scattered markings elsewhere on my body. Not on my face, fortunately, or any "strategic" areas. A rash is a known possible side-effect of niacin, so I discontinued taking it. (The doctor had told me it was optional in my case.) Well and good. But now it is nearly a month later, and the rash doesn't seem to have healed any more than it had a week after it broke out. My wife claims it is getting worse. Today, my boss came to my cube and asked me, "How long have you had psoriasis?" Apparently my rash looks just like psoriasis, which he suffers from, and he wanted to recommend a medication that worked for him. I suppose it's possible that the niacin wasn't related to my rash, and that it is psoriasis or something else. I'm going to see the doctor, or rather, one of his partners tomorrow.

Anyway, I'm covered with red blotches ringed with white skin. I'm getting scaly. I'm getting an overwhelming urge to bask on a rock. Or fight crime. With great power comes great responsibility. And tasty flies.

My first reaction would be to be careful with yet another type of medicine. Eat well and get enough sunlight on the skin. Wear wide clothing that's airy.

I don't claim to know anything, but my mum (with 40 years experience in healthcare) avoids pharmaceutical medicines like the plague.

Good luck with that. Does it hurt?

Niacin's just a vitamin. Still, point taken. Getting enough sunlight isn't normally a problem in Nevada, though it's supposed to snow today.

No, no pain or itching. Just hideous blotches, that may be transforming into scales. It's just embarrassing when co-workers keep a respectful distance, and ask me in tight, controlled voices if I'm contagious.

Just make sure your children also eat well John. In the UK you might just lose them...

That would trigger a literally homicidal rampage if my family was subjected to such an injustice.

I don't have children of my own, but having lived closely with the child of my ex gf, I can almost imagine what the feeling must be.

Drinking lots of water really helped a few ppl I know with that problem.

Turns out I ate really horribly in early winter and over did things during the holidays, then I had my cholesterol checked on Jan 5.
Bad idea. It was pretty high. See me in 6 mos.

I exercise and typically eat very well so hopefully no meds after 6 mos.

Good luck, rino. I recommend making oatmeal a regular part of your diet.

Doctor doesn't know why I'm transforming into a lizard. I have a steroid ointment to apply for a few weeks; if it doesn't work, then I'm off to a dermatologist or a zoo. Or major league baseball.

Well, I just set into motion the 'getting back to work' process. I'll see how all that goes.

Grats, Jeffe!

Stan, my reptilification has been a relatively recent phenomenon. I have not yet traveled to South Carolina. I've got family in Florida, so I think the 'Glades would be a better fit for me.
