I'm trying to think if that "pop-up" feature for cooling is brilliant or likely to invite disaster (with splashes, dust, grit etc)

Could be... thanks for the link, James.

A friend has a similar "laptop," it's a Eurocon. He uses it for computer models for his job though.

So now that I have the new flagship Mac, I'm thinking about getting some games.

What are the big favorites out there these days? I think open world games would be most appealing to me.

This is probably my next computer. In a year or two.

That video played at 144p [not 1440) (as opposed to 1080p). odd.

Crossposted from the Mac OS X thread. High Sierra's APFS breaks some Unity-based games.

Are there any games that would warrant that, James?

Asked innocently (after all WoW is a big deal for me).

I didn't see any games I'm interested in on the list, so didn't pay much attention to it. Blizzard generally writes its own code instead of using third party engines like Unity, so you're probably fine.

Anybody have strong feelings one way or the other on the Nintendo Switch, now that it's been out for a while? Thinking of buying a "family" (mine!) Switch. I have very little interest in Mario, or even Zelda, but the new open world Zelda seems interesting and, hey, another platform to play Skyrim on is always welcome. I like the handheld capability. On the other hand, I've always hated the way that Nintendo seems to dick around its fans with limited availability and two games are probably not enough to justify buying a console.

From hearing about it on atp.fm, I admit it'd be on my "if I had discretionary funds". But I have no rational idea why.

Granted, my gaming is almost exclusively the "on a device, not at my desk, don't want to turn on a TV, if I can play for a few minutes and walk away that's great" model.

I've got office mates who are very happy with it, almost as much for the form factor as the games.

Pretty sure that's a "no," then. I'm dragging my feet on this whole generation of consoles but as far as I can tell the Nintendo value proposition is almost entirely "it's the box you can play Mario and Zelda on."

SO I don't play many games, but I do play Destiny and all most of my Destiny 2 friends are on PC, so I am putting together a gaming rig. I was thinking about a laptop, but I am playing on a TV, so I figured I may as well make a desktop. the worst part of this whole experience is that it seems like every possible component is meant to look as ugly as possible. But for about $1000 (thank you Bitcoin speculation!)

Anybody use GeForce Now? This was going to be my solution (free mac beta) before Bitcoin went up and I was able to buy my components.

Now that I have a PC, are there any games we play as a group? Is there a spork discord server?

Also, if you play Destiny 2, feel free to join my clan with my coworkers and I.

I read good things about GeForce Now, I haven't tried it.
