For those who play games on Windows (or Crossover Games), Lord of the Rings Online has gone free-to-play and Pirates of the Burning Seas will do so in the near future.

Anyone bothered with Cataclysm?

(Don't play wow any more myself - just curious)

Yup. Me, my wife, and kids are all playing. Fun, but (pardon the pun) not earth-shattering.

She was in the PhD program at the Media Lab. Cati's real research was about constructive play for kids. Really was a WoW addict, said she lost a year to it. This is art/joke. Slap Tony, if anyone.

Ah, good to hear it was something we just fell for.

Think Tony's been slapped around enough by nature lately. And really, I got most of the Tony-slapping out of my system years ago.

The odd thing is that Tony doesn't play WoW any more.

No - I'm back on (off?) the wagon. I've resubscribed but I haven't upgraded to cata yet...

I used to log my hours played just to see how bad my addiction was. I was averaging about 1 1/2 hrs a day. I spend more time sleeping for heavens sake...

Well, I can see why. The game has any number of uses.

Well, given wow is the reason a lot of otherwise bright kids are failing math it's only fair the GM should help with their homework...

GM ftw!

If you like comic books, the MMO Champions Online is now free to play (Windows only, but you can play on Crossover's WINE variant for games). I find it amusing to play in between more serious games. My oldest daughter is playing too, on her Mac using Crossover Games. I find it more entertaining than City of Heroes/Villains, I haven't tried DC's MMO. I played it way back at launch, but it was pretty unstable then. The experience is much better now. Anyway, FYI.

Sad that the Dark Forces uses the PC graphics. The graphics from the Mac version were much better. I loved that game.
