Strange all the bruhaha over apple supposedly "cutting orders drastically (again!)".

I thought we nailed that lid shut for 95% of Apple products! This is 2008 for fucks sake and they've been selling like hot cakes. Many commenters say it on the internet so it must be true.

You have to put yourself into the life styleof a typical ars poster -- lives in mom's basement, has low paying tech related job(s) {such as "cell phone kiosk attendant", "Best Buy employee", "independent web security consultant", "Cable TV installer"}, puts way too much time in FPS games, spends most of 'income' on parts for overclocked homebrew PC, Mtn. Dew, cheesy garlic sticks, and Domino pizza.

If a 60 percent sales drop will be reported for any device in any quarter of the year, you bet the Street will call for Jobs' head. No way on earth those are realistic figures, unless the economy has imploded completely and we haven't heard from it yet.

Both of those posts came from the same guy, I think. I read through those as well. Obviously a thinly disguised Apple hater.

And the analyst is off base. Way off. All will become clear later.

Basically, him saying order cuts = less sales is the equivalent of a financial terrorists and he should be treated as such.

He could be talking the stock down to get on board again?

Daniel; I posted before I saw your post.

It's fud, but I can see the point of Apple trying to keep the lid on iPhone applications. It's not that hard to imagine spreading an iPhone virus via Bluetooth, WiFi or EGDE. It's an incredibly rich API for a phone, heck, the virus could even be a fat binary.

But then again, the iPhone would probably make a pretty louse botnet and virus writer seems to do it for profit these days.

Ha! Good article. I expect there will be trojans and whatnot, that will infect jailbroken iPhones. If there are enough to make it worth it. Apple can point out that they hacked their phones, but considering a lot of people may have just bought what they thought was a third-party unlocked iPhone, it will hurt Apple. But I'm betting that the App Store will be hard for most devs to resist. God the bitching from the "Have it your way" generation! Don't they realize the 'i' stands for "I, Steve Jobs", not themselves? If I ever have kids they're going to get beaten enough to make sure they don't think the world revolves around them. The killer app would be a idiocy filter.

They did seem to outperform the market even on the rate cut.

Another %4 up, grazing $150. iPhone, full steam ahead!

So, will the street care about the fact that Apple is now the Number One Music Retailer in the US? Apparently they've leapfrogged Wal-Mart.

I read that too ... that when I'm busy writing polite but terse emails to record company execs who think it's OK to offer the same product in a degraded form on iTunes as compared to Amazon.

Imagine! Maybe people don't care so much.

I don't care. I don't mind degraded. I don't buy it.
