What a journey.
I get very sad when I think of his passing and his daughter being fatherless.

Remy,
Thanks for digging that clip up - I'd been looking for that for ages...

Had a belated birthday party with Keira today. She sat on my lap and fed me popcorn. It was very cute.

I predict that Keira's going to become quite fond of the "two birthday" concept.

Noah is nine today. I can't say it's gone quickly, but I'm still amazed.

Sorry to hear that Tony. I'm in a similar boat, although the child is not mine. My ex is playing a devilish game; I've always said that if I cannot see her child anymore, she should at least have the decency (and guts) to tell her child. I've known the kid since she was two, we broke up three and a half years ago when she was eight.
The tactic my ex is using now is that she's telling me that I can see her daughter, but that arrangements as to when and how can be made directly with her daughter. When I do this, her daughter is reluctant to set a date without consulting her mom. So, after she did that, for the past year the answer is variably 'no time, I need to do it calmer, I've barely got time for myself', the exact same answers her mother would give me until a year ago.
It's maddening as I cannot get my finger behind it. Plus, her daughter feels this and is more and more reluctant to promise me anything as her mother always seems to 'encourage' other activities first.

I had a lovely four-day weekend with the kids, including both Thanksgiving and Noah's birthday (we did meet up with the kids' mom for a few hours on Noah's birthday; it went fine). But now will see little of them for the next 11 days. I'm headed for mediation on Thursday, at which parenting time issues should be resolved; I'm very nervous about it, although my situation isn't nearly as extreme as TL's or tliet's.

Sorry, Tony, I can't imagine a more painful situation. I hope things go well, Jeff.

My parents are very upset they're not going to see much of their grandchild...
I really want to vent in the other thread but now is not the time...

Had my daughter over today for a visit. She was extremely um "contrary" and no cajoling/bribery/threats were inducing any cooperation. I try to make the once-a-week visits fun and I don't want to be the "grouchy parent" but I'm really struggling with balancing having good fun enjoyable visits with my daughter and the fact that my two-year-old needs some good stern discipline.
Tips from single dads with two-year-olds?

Count the days until she's three? They're not called "the terrible twos" for nothing...

Won't necessarily help. As we used to say about Samantha, "three is the new two."
