So, when do you expect to see the next 21-slot G5 subnotebook with built-in antigravity? Or do you have other things to complain about regarding the Mac rum0rz press?

Maybe Apple should buy AMD. Apple's been rumored to be going the custom-chip (presumably ARM-based) for years now. This would give them foundries, design expertise, x86 compatibility for as long as they want it, ATI graphics tech and, of course, patents in all sorts of things.
Not really very likely, given AMD vs. Intel performance in x86 and Apple's rumored future ARM direction. It would probably be cheaper to buy talent piecemeal.

I guess my thought is that the price/capacity of the current Classic is already unimpressive, given drops in hard drive prices since the Classic was introduced in at its current configuration and price (now three years ago). Heck, I'm almost surprised Apple can still get 160 GB 1.8" hard drives--surely capacities have increased in three years (although I don't suppose there are many other uses for 1.8" hard drives at this point, so maybe component capacities and prices haven't changed in that category the way they have for 2.5" and 3.5" drives).

I see Apple's stock is down a percent or so since the announcement. Damn iPhone 5 doesn't have an anti-gravity device; what good is it?

Totally kidding. It would miss the point of its place on the price/capacity spectrum.
Maybe it was lost in the live-blogging, but everything seemed unexciting. I didn't hear a big vision articulated with iPhone 5/iOS 6. iTunes and the photo capabilities seemed to be the closest to hinting at new battlefield movements.

Agreed, but I think they'd worry about making the pricing of the 64GB iPod Touch ($399) look bad.

Apple's pricing of flash storage is increasingly out of kilter with the broader market. Helps keep those profit margins up, though.

The iPod Classic lives! Just like last year: despite its omission from the iPod lineup presented at the Apple event, it remains available at the Apple Store. It's rather shameful at this point that it hasn't seen a price drop or a capacity increase, but at least it's still there.
