Ironically, it was a moment of honest play that arguably hurt the Netherlands the most: in the 81st minute, Robben, clear in on goal, was clearly tugged from behind by Puyol. Players routinely fall to the ground under far less contact--Iniesta certainly did on the play that resulted in Heitinga's second yellow card. And had Robben gone down, it would have been a free kick just outside the Spanish penalty area, and should have been a red card on Puyol as well (because Puyol was the last defender other than the keeper on a clear scoring opportunity). Robben, to his credit, tried to finish the play, but Puyol's tug slowed him enough to allow Casillas to come out and prevent a shot.
